Unable to change class value for few CIs

Hi,
The project I am part of has a situation where there are stale CIs lying in cmdb_ci class. These CIs have to be moved to their right classes as the immediate task.
I was able to update the classvalues for majority of it, however there are few entries with the error=Security doesnt allow you to update the field.
My confusion is - how was I able to update the class for remainder of CIs? Can someone please point me to right direction of investigation? Thanks in advance!
