Dear all, I am looking to specialise in ServiceNow CMDB configuration and would value advice from experienced practitioners. Which practical skills should I prioritise first—such as CI class design, Identification and Reconciliation Engine (IRE), data sources, CMDB Health, CSDM, Discovery, and Service Mapping—and what hands-on projects would best help me build real-world CMDB experience?
Many thanks

Hi Viv,
My recommendation would be as follows:
1. CMDB Fundamentals (Available on demand on ServiceNow learning)
2. CSDM Fundamentals
3. CMDB Health Deep Dive
4. Discovery Better Practices - CMDB
These would covers the first 6 topics mentioned, then once you have a comfort level with the basics of CMDB, you can look at Service Mapping Fundamentals and other Service Mapping related courses.
It is of benefit as well, if you haven't already done so, to do the ServiceNow Certified Systems Administrator Learning path which will help with understanding he system overall / navigation / and would also teach you some basic tools like creating update sets / doing imports etc..
CMDB is increasingly complicated with the myriad of sources for cmdb data and understanding how each one fits and interacts with one another. And really only experience will truly teach you as you encounter it and work thru the problem - whether it's CMDB Health / IRE / Managing CMDB / Discovery / Etc.
Another good exam that tests your knowledge is being certified for ServiceNow's CIS-DF Foundations of which most if not all the courses I listed contribute to that exam.
