Application Service aka /$csdm_app_service : How are Technical/Business Service Offerings stored, so that they are selectable?

Hi there,

i have a lot of Business Service Offerings in my /service_offering table, but none of them are selectable under the application service view. Does anyone now what criteria something has to meet, that it will show up?

I can't see in the screenshot if this is your offering record.

Other things I can think of is check if service classification is set on the parent service - but if I recall correctly this should not be a requirement.

you were right. i mixed up business service and business service offering.

so the solution was to set in the business service OFFERING the right classification.

Thanks

Application Service is a service which can discover-able by Service Mapping. Which is an interconnected set of applications supporting a business service. So they are completely different from Service Offerings

So, if i dont use service mapping (ITOM-module i guess) but i have a bunch of cis (server, router, etc), a bunch of business services offerings, what is my best chance to "connect" them together?

You don't need an ITOM module to use those data structures. Application Service is a valid way of connecting them using either manual association or dynamic ci groups. Please note however that you don't have to use an app service to do it if for example that infrastructure doesn't follow Application Service definition. Value stream visualisation and impact mapping will work without them.
