Before and After Filters within the Reporting feature

When using these filters within a report to find out what knowledge gap - manual tasks were created 2 or more days ago and it uses the before filter?

As opposed to this report when I just want to see things that were created just the 1 day ago and it uses after?

My question is very simple - why is the data being produced very different when using the before filter to the after filter.  

 

Why don't these behave like mirror images?
