Can you use Dynamic CI Group to create/maintain CIs for a business service?

We are attempting to implement our CMDB ideally using the CSDM 4.0 model.
I want to know, if it is possible/ advisable to use Dynamic CI Group CIs related directly to business services, or does there have to be an application service as well every time?

Basically we have a managed service, managed by a third party. We have designed the structure (in theory, for now) as a Business Service, with its components underneath as Service Offerings (Business Service Offerings). The BSOs are hardware rather than logical, but we will need to populate CIs for those devices.
I am trying to figure out if there should be Application Service and Technical Service, when actually we aren't managing those "in house" but they are done by a supplier who wants their CIs adding via APIs

We should ask 'why' the supplier wants you to hold their CIs? Is this so that they can leverage your ITSM around their managed devices to help them support your user community?
Assuming this is what you want, and also assuming your supplier has a support presence on your platform, then you could populate their 'support group' onto their CIs using a Dynamic CI Group and CSDM Data Sync. Then put the SO under your Service (which may have to be a Technical Service)

Yes pretty much, they will be logging calls in our platform. I am going to try and build this in my PDI today and I think I have an idea now of how it should look

From a Managed Infrastructure point of view it makes sense right. They probably don't (need to) know what potentially can be impacted it is (just) the agreement level that they need to understand. In the end the Infrastructure if support solutions that is important for the solution owner/consumer. Those are 2 different viewing points.
Supplier can (maybe) raise a pro-active incident, or announce a change without the solution context. In these scenarios Dynamic CI Groups are good for the grouping concept.
The real impact understanding is done outside of the Supplier environment to judge impact to solutions. (other environment?)
Cheers,
Barry

They will need to log incidents against the correct Service (Business Service) and Service Offerings, and they want their CIs populated via API integration.
