We are working on migrating the service offerings. (custom to oob). They are not having any BS/TS/AS linked. They have portfolio linked to SO. If I check instance I get confuse with how SO is in CSDM different than SPM (The other view of service offering). In SPM view the parent is mandatory and in default it is not. Please suggest the best practices around it.

OOTB Offerings are not connected to PM Portfolio, as you already realized? What's the use case behind? If needed you can create a reference field on Offerings for that. For the start I would migrate each offering to OOTB offering table and create a Service with same name above. After this you can think about a more fine granular breakdown of the offerings.

Hi @pratiksha5, each Service Offering should have a parent Service, as the Service Offering is only a break down of a Service into options including localization, geography, pricing ...
In Service you store everything what is common for all the underpinning offerings and use it e.g. for Impact analysis in Change, Incident and Problem Management or even for approvals within change requests.
To follow CSDM I highly recommend to utilize Service above Service Offerings.

What would be the best way to migrate them? Present setup of the offerings created on a custom table. Offerings are also linked to the pm_portfolio table. Which I do not see in the OOB table. I understand that the offerings are breakdown but in this case, I do not see pricing or location.

Thank you for the reply. This is what my original solution was. I wanted to confirm if I am going in the right direction or not. I am presently doing one-to-one mapping with postfix ( SO/BS/AS) as they are all inherited from the same base table which is service. I have also created a reference field for PPM tables. Hopefully, some calls with service owners help me understand why they need this. Thank you again.
