I have created a Dynamic CI Group from an application service (by converting the class to Dynamic CI Group).
I have associated this Dynamic CI group to a CMDB Group.
For this CMDB Group, i have created a CMDB Query-Builder.
Query Builder has "VMware vCenter Cluster" class to "Server" class relationship defined. When i run this query, it gives me relationships as defined above.
I used this query builder in the CMDB group and when i run the "Show All CI", it shows the same results.
But when i use this CMDB Group in Dynamic CI Group and click on View Service CIs, it is only showing me the Parent (VMware vCenter Cluster) names in the list, but not the server class cis. Am i missing something here, any help?
Please Note: "VMware vCenter Cluster" class is not actual parent class of server. Server class is extended from Hardware. But server class cis are "Members of" of Cluster class.

Hi Mithilesh,
I concur this behavior.
When checking the Dynamic CI Group record there are 2 buttons in the upper right corner.
- View CMDB Group CIs is showing all CIs you see in the CMDB Query Builder (run)
- View Service CIs obviously shows only the parent (cluster) CI.
I am not really sure what to expect here to be honest, but in case I would raise a change I might do that on the child level, not on the cluster level.
For sure the fill function is using the View Service CIs logic and not the Views CMDB Group CIs logic that is clear.
Cheers,
Barry

Thats correct
I asked the same question to ServiceNow, how can i use this when any alert comes on child CIs and how impacted services will fulfil this. Awaiting their response on the same.

Check service classification, Service classification should be Technical Service not Application Service.

Thanks Srinivas for the response. Yes, behaviour is same for both the classifications.
