Dynamic CI Group - missing some Service CIs

Hello Everyone,

Some Dynamic CI Groups do not have all the CIs (Service CI) which are in the related CMDB Group. The total number of CIs in the CMDB Group is below the 10,000 threshold.

Any thoughts on why and what can be done to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Dan,

we have the same issue, not all CIs are included in the DCG (Dynamic CI Group), which should be in based on the query. Currently our assumption is that the query is not running every time you open it, but there is some update mechanism behind. We would be also interested in the solution!

The 10.000 CI limit can be changed with a parameter described here:

https://www.servicenow.com/community/common-service-data-model-forum/dynamic-ci-groups-default-numbe...
"The property you need to change is sa.qbs.max_num_of_cis.

The property might not exist - so you will probably have to create it. (type = integer)"

Kind regards

Hi Miklos,

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I'm aware that the threshold can be changed through the property but our architects apparently have been advised by ServiceNow against increasing the limit since it can lead to performance issues. On the other hand, I read in another post that some people did actually increase the limit and it worked fine. For the purpose of this issue, I'm still under the default threshold with the CI count so it should, in theory, not be a factor.

I have a support case open with ServiceNow for this issue and I'll post the outcome if a working solution is provided.
