Need some advice on picking my next ServiceNow module!

ChunjiJ

I'm pretty new to ServiceNow—just finished my CAD and ITSM courses,
so I've got the basics down.

Now I wanna dive deeper into one more module to level up my skills,
However, I’m unsure which of the following modules would help me deepen my ServiceNow expertise,
offer more career opportunities, or advance my skills further in the ServiceNow domain.
I’d appreciate any advice. Thank you.

ITOM

HRSD
SPM
GRC
CSM
FSM
SecOps
FSO
PSDS

Are you more into business operation or IT operation? For business, you may consider CSM or HRSD.  If you are more into IT operation, you may check ITOM / SecOps .

Hi @ChunjiJ ,

FIrstly congrates for completing basics. Now you should jump deep to ITSM with CIS-ITSM and other stuff like- integration, Virtual Agent, Basics of AI, Service Portal, Workflow, Flow designer. Once all these done, then you should think about the next module. Next module will depend on what your job role is and where you want to be - ex:- If your current role is related to Asset Mgmt etc than ITAM and ITOM will be good fit for your. If you are working towards Business Mgmt then ITBM, CSM etc. If you are working as a developer then you can go with HRSD. If you are towards security then SecOPS, if towards compliances then GRC..so next module will depend on multiple factors.

If my answer helepd you in anyways, please mark it- solution accepted.

Hi @ChunjiJ ,

Please note that selecting your next module post CAD and ITSM is all about interest. What is it that you would like to work with? To select a module based on career opportunities but where you have no interest will not benefit you. Rather select your next module based on interest - then I'm sure you will excel in the course.

If my answer has helped with your question, please mark my answer as the accepted solution and give a thumbs up.

Best regards
Anders

Hi @ChunjiJ ,

If you’re aiming to differentiate yourself in the market, specialize in Security Operations (SecOps) or Integrated Risk Management (IRM/GRC), employers list these as the highest-growth areas and most certified professionals are still less from these areas...ServiceNow’s IRM module has also been recognized as a strategic, AI‑driven leader in governance and risk automation, an emerging “domain ambition” module for enterprises...

My suggestions would be pick SecOps or IRM/GRC if you want rare skills and premium opportunities; or go with CSM or HRSD if you’re looking for wider adoption, and more frequent project assignments.

Hope this helps !!

@ChunjiJ ,

From a ServiceNow perspective, moving into ITOM (IT Operations Management) will give you a different angle.

ITOM takes it a step further by dealing with the underlying infrastructure, cloud environments, discovery, service mapping, event management, and operational health of services.

ITOM skills are in high demand because organizations want to proactively monitor, automate, and optimize their IT landscape—whether it’s on-prem, cloud, or hybrid. This makes it a very valuable specialization for career growth, and it also complements your ITSM knowledge by giving you end-to-end visibility from infrastructure to services.

So if you’re aiming to broaden your expertise and want to stand out in the ServiceNow space, ITOM will definitely give you that edge.

Hope it helps!

Hi there

I tend to agree with Shashank. ITOM Skills are very scarce and critical resources. There is a gap in the global market when it comes to ITOM Visibility as well as ITOM Health products. So if the CMDB, Discovery, Service Mapping and Event management interests you this would really be a great path to follow.

Maybe have a look at the TACO learning paths as well.
