I have related an instance to a business application and it shows on the default view of the instance and on the business application but it does not show in the CSDM view of the instance. Why?

The relationship between your service instance and business application is wrong. It should be as shown below.
There are some mentions of CSDM5 using a different type of relationship, but I am not convinced yet this wasn't an error in the white paper as I have seen no reasoning yet and it seems odd to me they would gloss over such a change. The OOTB application service wizard also still applies the CSDM4 relationship.

In CSDM 5 it is Uses::Used by, however as stated earlier, the platform is not yet updated to align with this. This is documented here as well and is not a mistake:
"CSDM v5 implements the Uses::Used By relationship between Business Applications and Application Services. Earlier CSDM versions used Consumes::Consumed By. A Business Application, ultimately, relates to an Application Service table and not any other type of Service Instance."

Just an update on this. Mark Bodman has confirmed (on LinkedIn) that the new relationship is correct, but the products (EA, etc.) have not been updated yet. The new relationship is the future course they are heading.

@CSDM SME I already mentioned this a few posts back. I have raised this on CSDM webinars but as of yet there is no response from ServiceNow on when or if the new relationship will be adopted on the platform. Scott Lemm also mentioned a migration path some months back, but again I've not seen any updates since.
