Service is linked to Service Offering via the Parent field of the Service Offering.
This relationship is not visible within the Dependency View OOTB.
However you can add a Map Related Items entry to get this relationship to display. However it only works from the Service to the Service Offering (left hand view). If you view the Map from the Service Offering it doesn't show the Service (right hand view)
This seems odd when you want to see impact dependency - which would be upstream!
Is something not setup correctly?

Hi Alec,
I think it makes sense to add CI Relations anyway, as the Refresh impacted service is also based on CI Relations and I would like to see that in my Incidents.
So beside the dependency view visualization I think there is a need for relation anyway.
Best regards,
Barry

Hi Barry,
Which is fine apart from:
a) you're duplicating things - Parent field and a relationship
b) this is not as per the CSDM - so either not thought through fully, or I think because the Service Offerings will appear when you "Refresh Impacted Service".

Last time I checked, the "Refresh Impacted Services" action only applies to the operational Service hierarchy consisting of ITOM Service Classes (Application Service and its subclasses, and Application Service Group).
SPM Services and Service Offerings have no operational Status (they help define the Service Catalog configuration).
ITOM services don't use the SPM specific parent field because the ITOM service hierarchy is defined using the Application Service Group member table and the parent Service Group field.

Hi Everyone, is there any update regarding this topic?
same as @Alec Hanson I can see the parent-child relationship when displaying services, but not when showing offerings. Same for Parent Business capabilities. Is it possible to force the display of parent references in the Dependency map?
Thanks
Robin
