HI Experts,
I am looking for some input on tag based service mapping approach. As per ServiceNow documentation, tag-based Service Mapping is applicable to below resources:
Segment | Technology providers | What is tagged |
Cloud | Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), IBM Cloud Platform | IaaS, PaaS, FaaS, CaaS resources |
Containers | Kubernetes, OpenShift Container Platform, AWS ECS | Containers |
Hyper-converged | Nutanix | Virtual machines |
Virtualization | VMware vCenter | Virtual machines |
I would like to understand, If tag-based SM can be done on-prem application services and CIs. If yes, How can we achieve it and what level of customization is required to achieve the same?
Please do let me know your thoughts. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

@Lekh95 Did you get any solution? Does an on-prem server part of a tag-based map?

Hi, I would suggest to follow the "onboarding process flow" for these devices (irrespective of their technology); hence you can identify the Application tag information on the request items (if your org is using the Catalog items for provisioning), and try using the "tag governance plugin" to calculate and derive the tags to build a Tag based application service.
