Unable to access "csdm_app_services" table

In Left Navigator, If I type "csdm_app_services.LIST" I can see List view of this table, but however, when I right click and select "Configure ->Table" then it is opening the other table.. that is "cmdb_ci_service_auto" table.

Provided in the below screenshots. Please help me to understand why it was behaving like this.

  • csdm_app_services is just a saved filter 
  • cmdb_ci_service_auto is the actual database table where the records live.
When you click "Configure Table", ServiceNow bypasses the shortcut and opens the real database table. This is normal platform behavior
example :
To add a field/column for everyone to see: You must add it to the real cmdb_ci_service_auto table. It will then appear on your CSDM view automatically.

cmdb_ci_service_auto Service Instance Services that can be monitored by the system, which in the base system, includes only application services. If Service Mapping is activated, there can also be records for dynamic CI groups. If Event Management is activated, there can be records for alert groups.

csdm_app_services is a built-in ServiceNow UI page used to create and manage Application Services within the Common Service Data Model (CSDM) framework.

 

Refer KB: KB0993250 Can we add new fields to $csdm_app_service.do page when loading an application service 

 

  • Both endpoints direct you to the same data (the list view of Application Services).
  • If you need to add a new field or update the structure for everyone, you must do it on the actual cmdb_ci_service_auto table. Changes will automatically appear in your CSDM/Workspace views
