Hey, was looking for the same thing. Looks like its purely an organisational thing and has no bearing on CSDM: https://www.servicenow.com/docs/r/it-operations-management/service-mapping/organizing_services-into-.... This document describes that you use service groups in the same way you would use the application portfolios but to group services into a taxonomy instead.
