Hi,

I was going through the documentation. Can anyone please help me in understanding the role of Discovery and Service Mapping in CSDM?

Hi,

I would summarize it in the following:

Discovery: Helps you to receive your software and hardware CIs in an automated way. The CSDM Technical Service+Offering will help you to manage ownership and responsibility

Service Mapping: Helps you to automize the detection of relationships between your CIs and will reduce the manual mapping of relationships. Therefor the correct creation of application service is necessary.

Overall Discovery and Service Mapping will gain visibility over your infrastructure and together with CSDM it helps to perform actions against them with knowing the business impact.

Kind regards

Sebastian

Hi

in the White paper for the CSDM 3.0 you can read on page 10:

"Manage Technical Services is a CSDM Domain that represents those tables currently utilized by IT  Operations Management such as Service Mapping and ServiceNow Discovery."

Kind regards
Maik

Thank you @Maik Skoddow

Hi @shaik.irfan

Unfortunately your question was misleading. You did not ask what Discovery and Service Mapping is.

As a CIS Discovery I could tell you a lot about that topics. Also in my Knowledge Sources To Go you will find a lot of helpful links.

So next time please make clear what you want to hear.

Thanks
Maik
