A KB article has an older draft version & newest published version so checkout/edit is not available

Dear Community Colleagues,

for some reason a new version is published and the old one is still in draft version. (see image attached)

The newest version has no checkout or edit button available and my suspicious is because of the existence of an old draft one.

We cannot delete this draft version in order to preserve the history.

Is it possible to outdated the draft version direct without publish it?

Thanks in advance for your attention and support.

Thanks Sandeep for your reply, however that option did not brought back the edit button in the published article.

The solution was

1) update the draft article to 'outdated' via fix script with setWorkflow as false.

2) update the published article to 'draft' via fix script with setWorkflow as false.

3) Publishes + approve article again. Now edit button is back and all versions are preserved.

Kind Regards,

Patricia

Hi @pinfeital ,

You can try "retire" the "Draft" Article.

Thanks for your reply, Sandeep, however if we retire this draft version we will face another issue: Knowledge Article - Missing Checkout/Edit Button - Support and Troubleshooting (servicenow.com) and the edit button will be missed as well.

Is there any possibility to outdated the article from draft version? If the newest version was published, something did not work in the workflow as it should have outdated the previous version, shouldn't it?

Thanks again.

Patricia
