External users can't login after Azure SSO has been enabled

Hi All,
We activated Azure SSO in our test environment and it works as intended for internal users. However, external users, such as those who login to the CSM portal to raise cases can no longer login.
Initially, the issues was the clicking login would redirect the user to the SSO page.
However, this was resolved by following a couple of SNow support articles:
KB0719767 & KB0682702
This issue now, is that when an external user inputs their userID and password the invalid details error is shown.
I assume having SSO and CSM both functioning is fairly common and there must be a solution that we have missed. Any help would be greatly appreciated
