A List context menu/List choice UI Action and UI Page, allowing a user to quickly and easily reorder a number of Catalog Item or Variable Set Variables. To open the UI Page, select the Variables you want to change in the Related List and either right-click a row or select "Reorder Variables" from the List Choice:
If you right-click a row and select "Reorder Variables", you may receive the following message:
This is because the Variable record you right-clicked is currently not editable, typically because it is in a different Application Scope. It's the same reason the List Choice screenshot above is showing "(3 of 4)". I purposely have the "D" Variable set in a different scope than the one I am currently in in order to show these "errors".
Once selected, a UI Page will appear:
You can then select a new "Start at" number as well as the "Increment by" value, which is defaulted to 100. You should give yourself some room between each Variable so that you could add a couple new ones in between existing ones. I seem to be seeing more and more setup with just 1 between each other, forcing you to renumber them all just to fit in a new variable somewhere. Give yourself some room to grow.
Notice that there's a note regarding the "D" Variable. It will be skipped if you click on the "OK" button, again, typically because it is outside the current Scope.
Any issues will be shown at the top of the form when it reloads:
And now you can see 3 of the 4 Variables were reordered:
Not something you'll use everyday, but may come in handy one day.
I've attached XML files for the UI Action, UI Page and UI Message records so you can just import them into your instance. As always, try it out in your company's development instance first, or better yet, your own personal development instance.
NOTE: Also requires the "Simple Modal Alert" UI Page.
