Whether you're a seasoned developer or a newcomer to the world of no-code solutions, #BuildWithCreatorStudio is your gateway to transforming your innovative ideas into real-world solutions. Ready to get creative and have some fun? Join us for our third year of this exciting challenge! 

What’s Creator Studio? 

Creator Studio is a no-code tool that lets you whip up apps fast, no waiting on IT. It’s perfect for those simple, request-based workflows that need to get done without the hassle. The best part? It’s easy to use and comes with built-in governance, so your apps stay compliant and good to go, without any extra effort on your end.

Already using App Engine Studio? No problem. Creator Studio plays nice with it, letting you knock out the simpler apps quickly while saving AES for the bigger, more complex projects. It’s all about giving you more control and flexibility in how you build. (Quick shoutout to our #BuildWithAES participants! Cheers to more skill-building!)

How Do I Enter?

Jumping into the #BuildWithCreatorStudio challenge is simple. Here's how you can get started:

1. Set Up Your PDI (Personal Developer Instance): If you don't already have Creator Studio in your environment, go to your ServiceNow Developer Portal and either log into or spin up a PDI. It’s free and easy! Just make sure you install Creator Studio.

2. Build Your App: Now’s the time to create! Feel free to let your imagination run wild or keep it simple.

3. Share Your Build: When your app is complete, submit a 300-word description, a video, or an infographic that explains what your app does, and your experience using Creator Studio. Be sure to share it on both in the comments of this blog and on social media using #BuildWithCreatorStudio

Then sit back, relax, and wait for your swag redemption email!

• Where Do I Enter? 
  • To enter, you must follow the guidelines and respond to this Community blog post. You must include links to your content as well as links to where you shared on social media with #BuildWithCreatorStudio hashtagged. 

• Where and What Do I Post on Community? 
  • You’re in the right place! Simply log into your ServiceNow Community account. At the bottom of this blog, you will see an area to comment. This is where you can input your proof of completing the challenge using Creator Studio use along with a description of what you’ve built.  

• Where and What Do I Post on Social Media? 
  • You can post on any social media platform, whether it’s LinkedIn or Twitter, and share your completed app and Creator Studio imagery/experience.  

• What if I Don’t Have Social Media? 
  • Not to worry! Please send an email to BuildWith@servicenow.com, and we will contact you to get you your swag. Please refrain from emailing your entries to this address! We are monitoring the comments for your submissions. 😀

• When Will I Receive My Swag? 
  • When you complete the challenge, you can expect an email in a few weeks from ServiceNow with the subject line #BuildWithCreatorStudio Redemption. Enclosed there will be a link to our Developer Swag Store and a code to which you can redeem your mug. Based on the address you provide; your mug will ship there. If you are located outside the USA, please expect a longer shipping time. Swag is limited to while supplies last.

• You're not alone! Everyone was once a beginner, and there's no better time to dive in than now.   • No submission form is required! Just follow the guidelines above and you are good to go! 

• When Does the Challenge End? 
  • To receive swag, you must submit your challenge entry by October 8th, 2024 at 11:59 PM PST. However, you are welcome to continue sharing your apps past this date.  

• Who is Eligible to Enter the Challenge? 
  • We invite everyone aged 18 and above to join us! Whether you're an absolute beginner or an experienced Creator Studio user, your contribution is valued! Terms and Conditions 

No purchase is necessary. #BuildWithCreatorStudio Challenge is open only to individuals at least eighteen (18) years old at the time of entry. The Challenge begins September 8, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time ("PDT") and ends on October 8, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. PDT. 

Entrants must respond to the official forum with a 1) Screenshot, graphic, or video showing their app built using Creator Studio or 2) a 300 minimum word description of the app they built with a screenshot using Creator Studio AND entrants must post their video or blog into the ServiceNow Community Developer forum here AND share it on LinkedIn or Twitter with #BuildWithCreatorStudio Challenge on their post AND the social media post will be linked to their forum post.  

The Submission must be your own, original work; The Submission must contain a relevant reason/response to the prompt of Creator Studio; The Submission must meet the format and size requirements of the social platform used to enter; The Submission must conform with any applicable social media platform terms. 

The prize includes the official 2024 #BuildWithCreatorStudio Mug, while supplies last. Government employees are excluded from receiving the mug but can participate in the challenge. The brand of mug may vary. Mug may take up to 4 weeks or longer to arrive once ordered. Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”): $15 USD. 

The ServiceNow Community reserves the right to access email data provided by the entrant in order to reach out to individuals who have completed the challenge. Entrants who have met the guidelines and have successfully completed the challenge will receive an email from ServiceNow with instructions on how to redeem the prize. International country restrictions will apply.

This ensures that every step in the admission process is taken promptly and without the need for manual follow-up. Task creation is now consistent, and responsibilities are clearly defined to move forward efficiently.

📧Notification Automation:
Automation doesn’t stop with task creation. I’ve implemented automated, personalized notifications for applicants to keep them informed at every stage of their admission request. Whether their request is approved or rejected, they are notified instantly, reducing waiting times and improving communication. This streamlined approach means fewer manual updates and a faster, more transparent admission process.

🚀 Excited to share that I've completed the #BuildWithCreatorStudio challenge! 🚀

Using ServiceNow Creator Studio, I built a streamlined Employee Relocation process for India. Here’s a quick look at the automated steps I created:

Request Submission: Employees can easily submit their relocation requests, listing the details needed.

Manager Approval: The request goes to the employee’s manager for review. They can approve or reject based on the information provided.

TCBP Team Validation: Once approved by the manager, the TCBP team reviews and validates the request details.

Notification: After final validation, the TCBP team approves the request and notifies the employee of next steps.

This simple workflow ensures all requests are reviewed thoroughly by both the manager and TCBP team.

Thanks to Creator Studio’s easy, no-code interface, I built this application in under an hour—way faster than I expected!

Introduction:

InnovateNow is an app designed to empower employees to drive innovation within their company. Using a simple form in ServiceNow, employees can easily submit ideas for new products, cost-saving measures, and process improvements. InnovateNow automatically routes these submissions to the relevant departments, ensuring efficient review and evaluation. The app also facilitates communication and collaboration between submitters and reviewers, fostering a culture of open dialogue and continuous improvement. By streamlining the innovation process and encouraging employee participation, InnovateNow helps organizations unlock valuable ideas and achieve their business goals.

Goals for InnovateNow App:

1. Empower employees to actively contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

2. Provide a transparent and efficient platform for capturing, evaluating, and implementing innovative ideas.

I am excited to share with you all that I have created a custom app called "Women's Savings Group" using ServiceNow Creator Studio for the #BuildWithCreatorStudio challenge 🤩

I used Creator Studio's automation features to build this app. This application is excellent for women to save money on a monthly basis, and women can join together to form groups. Women can use this app to fill out the registration form and join Women's Savings Group.

Once a form is submitted by a woman, approval is sent to the group manager, who will validate the information provided by the woman. If it's correct, they'll add her to the group, and then ladies will get the facilities of that group.

Creator Studio is extremely useful for generating and designing service catalog forms, triggering approvals, and automating the generation of tasks and subtasks.

Using ServiceNow Creator Studio, I developed a Referral Management System that streamlines the employee referral process. Here's how it works:
HR updates open positions in a dedicated table, and these jobs are displayed on the employee portal.
Employees can refer their friends for suitable positions by viewing the Job ID, title, and description.

The referral process is simple and efficient:
-HR reviews the referral.
-If approved, an interview schedule task is automatically created.
-If rejected, the requestor receives an email update.
-Once the interview is cleared, an Onboarding checklist is generated to guide the next steps.
This solution helps make hiring faster and more effective. 🎉

I’ve built a new app called “PTO Request” using ServiceNow’s Creator Studio!

App Description:
The PTO Request app streamlines the process of requesting time off, making it easier for employees to submit requests and for managers to manage approvals. With this app, users can track their PTO balances, view pending requests, and communicate with their managers. It also sends reminders for upcoming PTO, ensuring requests are made well in advance, in line with company policy. Project managers can monitor team availability and avoid scheduling conflicts.
