ACLs missing from the platform

Hi Community,

In what circumstances could an ACL be missing in a ServiceNow instance? I've done a few table analysis comparing elements such as Dictionary, Scripts, Policies, ACLs etc between one of the sub production instances from work with my own PDI to understand what has been customised and how OOTB looks like and in a few occasions I noticed some ACLs missing from my work instance whilst being present in my PDI.

In principle I was careful to install the same plugins so my PDI could match with the environments from work, so not sure what can cause this. Could it be related to the plugin installation or is it likely to have been some skipped elements during upgrades/patches?

Should I try to get the ACLs identified as missing in the work SNow instances or only if they meet business requirements?

Any advice would be much appreciated, thank you.

Getting your PDI to match the work instance might be difficult just because of what you mentioned - upgrades, patches, and also the timing of when the work instance was stood up vs when you had your PDI. Is there an issue you are trying to track down? Or is it just an exercise to make sure your PDI is the same as your work instsance?

Thanks for your reply. The main purposes for these analysis is to revert to OOTB as much as possible, keeping only the necessary customisations made by the client. So not sure what needs to be done in this case if I have missing ACLs - should I raise it with ServiceNow directly or leave things as they are, if the functionality as a whole is in place as expected?

I had done a prior project where we moved back to the box.Steps I followed were

1. Checked All scripts and checked what are OOB and what are modified.

2. Ensured that enhanced script added by ServiceNow has been incorporated

3. Custom modifications checked them with client if needed at all else reverted them.

4.There were cases where client scripts, business rules and ACLs were missing. I checked them and what impact if they are there or not would have on my clients existing functionality and system. If they would do no harm, added them back.

Note: Do ensure PDI and client instance are on same release( and patch possibly) .

You can raise a HI ticket and they can also provide a exact solution or update sets for missing scripts so they are in instance.

Thanks
