Good morning everyone. I was wondering if it was possible to add activity logs (i.e. - Additional Comments or Worknotes) to the configuration items. The reason we would like to have this feature is to keep track of work that may have been performed on any of our configuration items. For example, should we replace a hard drive on a server, I would like to log that activity for that specific CI. I know that I can use the Comments or Description field, but these fields are editable. I would like to have historical data logged similar to the Worknotes or Additional Comments found in Incident that nobody can accidentally delete.
Please advise if this is possible and if any advice can be shared to accomplish this. Thanks!
Regards,
David

Hi David,
If you mark the cmdb_ci table as audited, it will capture any changes to the comments field. Then you could add the activity formatter to the form.
Alternatively, you could add a Work Notes style field by adding a "Journal" type field to the form.
Please let me know if you need additional assistance.
Kind regards,
Travis Toulson
