Hello All just wanted some advice on the following
- If a group name is changed in AD, does that name change in Service Now as well?
- What happens to old groups if we create new groups and provision them to Service Now?
- For example, we create a group named Infra Admin to replace Everyone in IT Infrastructure Admin. Do we move tickets to the new group? How do permissions get moved if needed? Does the old group remain in SNow for historical purposes but hidden so no new tickets can be assigned to it?

Hi @Ralton Stewart ,
ServiceNow and Active Directory (AD) do not automatically update group names. If you create new AD groups and want them in ServiceNow, you must set up LDAP handle connection.
For old groups, it's your choice:
- If you want to use new groups, you can move existing tickets and adjust permissions.
- If you want to keep old groups for history, you can, but usually, they are marked as inactive or new assignments are stopped.
Please mark it as helpful and solution proposed if it serves your purpose.
Thanks,
Anand
