Hi all, I'm from Australia and I am looking at employment opportunities after I pick up my System Administration certification - the only issue is, everything I've found in my state (Victoria) for employment has requirements such as 2-5+ years experience and Government clearances (this is due to A LOT of government contracts).
I've also been unable to find any entry-level positions in Sys. Admin or Development, most are for Managers, Leads and Transition.
I'm aware that this is a very competitive field, and people with experience are highly sought after - so I'm asking those of you who do have experience, what was it like trying to find work when you first started and do you have any tips on how to get into the industry?
Also a point for discussion: Is there a shortage of work for entry-mid level SNOW Sys. Admins and Developers (for instance, an over-saturation of employees and not enough employers), or is the field just very competitive?
Let me know what you think!
Have a good day/evening all -Sam
*Note: I apologise if this is posted in the wrong area of the forum, but seeing as I'm trying to find work as a Developer, what better place to be than where all the developers all hang out 😉*
Solved! Go to Solution.

Hey @sdlear
There is linkedin, serviceNow jobs forum, ServiceNow developer discord, ServiceNow Slack, Your job boards like indeed. I would highly recommend listening to the CJ and the Duke Podcast, they have more than. few episodes that go over this, episode 100 has some tips on resumes, the episode titled in the hard times has some great information on networking etc
I suggest getting into your PDI and building something. what do you think you could make better with serviceNow?
having a working app you built from the ground up and tellng the employeer about it is much better than having business rules, flow designer, ui actions, ui polices on your resume. Those words don't really tell the employer what you can do with the app

@sdlear If there are not enough opportunities in your state for entry level ServiceNow jobs then I suggest you to either look for remote positions or move out to other states where entry level jobs are in abundance.
You can also explore this forum https://www.servicenow.com/community/servicenow-jobs/ct-p/servicenow-jobs to know more about the existing threads on ServiceNow jobs or create a new thread.

I'm experiencing the same thing. How's it going? I'm sure there are many more folk out there who are in the same boat.

Hi Tony, I've been applying for SNOW (ServiceNow) jobs since I earned my CSA in mid-April.
Due to my lack of experience in the IT and SNOW field, I wasn't able to even secure an interview with the ~30 applications I had submitted.
I've since moved on from trying to get a SNOW job, and I have been trying to get a different job unrelated to SNOW but that company still uses it as a platform. Most companies prefer to hire internally for IT work, so I've been applying at companies such as insurance agencies and major retailers (in Australia) that use the platform, and hopefully when a position pops up, move laterally within the company to a SNOW Administrator or Developer role.
The job market is very tough, particularly with ServiceNow (at least from my experience in Australia).
I would also recommend building your own application and having that as a part of your resume, so that employers know you didn't just bluff your way through the certificate(s) and have some form of experience in the platform.
Hope this helps Tony, all the best.
