1. Anyone knows the reason why ServiceNow reduced the backup backup retention period from 28 to 14 days?
2. Also the blog here says 'An option to purchase extended 28 days retention period is also available.'
Is that still a true statement?
Also can we have it extended for more than 28 days or thats the max?
PS - This is JUST for my information only.
If your answer is "check with account representation/sales representative", you can skip replying to this post 😉
Thank you..... 🙂

Why then ask a question to which you already know the answer?
The reason given back then, when it was announced, was that it almost never happened that backups from more than 14 days ago were requested. And it just saves a lot of resources and money to not backup those extra two weeks.
And yes, you can buy extra, but I haven't heard from a single client the necessity to do so, so I don't know if it can be even more than those extra 2 weeks. Probably you can, if you pay enough.
And then the answer you don't want: the only person that can give you the exact answer on this, is your sales rep. This is related to your contract with ServiceNow, so the Community can only guess or respond from experience, but even that may not be how it is now or what can be done for you. Backup retention period is part of the agreement between customer and ServiceNow, and we don't know your agreement. Even a ServiceNow Sales rep answering you here, could be wrong, because he doesn't know your details.

Thanks for those inputs @Mark Manders
Just to be clear, why I mentioned this "

is because, I cannot ask this to ServiceNow sales rep as no customer asked me and this is not related to any of the agreement.
While I was going through a whitepaper on this topic, few questions came to my mind and then I posted here to hear from the community 🙂

I will skip the answer, but 100% agree with @Mark Manders
You also need to understand that in some areas, community information or knowledge may not be sufficient, and you need to reach out to the right person. As you mentioned that you don’t want a sales rep’s answer, it’s possible you didn’t get a full answer from the community.
If my response proves useful, please indicate its helpfulness by selecting " Accept as Solution" and " Helpful." This action benefits both the community and me.
