Is it possible to use User Criteria on sys_app_module, or are roles the only supported access restriction ?

My requirement is to make a module visible/accessibile to a single group of users. Apart from using a Query Business Rule, what are the recommended approaches to achieve this?

Can User Criteria be applied to modules, or is role-based access the only out-of-the-box option?

Hi @George_1

No. User Criteria is not supported on sys_app_module.

Only Roles can be used to restrict module access.

If you want only one group to access the module, create a role, assign it to that group, and add the role to the module.

Hi @George_1
Since modules can only be restricted using roles (and not directly by groups), you can achieve this by:

1.Create a new role.

2.Assign the role to the required group.

3.Add the same role for module visibility.

This way, only users who are members of that group (through the assigned role) will be able to access the module.

Hi @George_1

For Application Menus and Modules, Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) is the only native, out-of-the-box option.

  • Create a custom role
  • Assign this role strictly to the desired group.
  • Add this role to the Roles field under the Visibility tab of the module

Note:  User Criteria is primarily built for the Service Catalog, Knowledge Base, and Service Portal.

@George_1
