Badge reader integration for Walk Up Experience.

Hi All,

I am trying to implement Walk Up Experience for my client and one of their requirements is Badge Reader functionality.

While ServiceNow has a plugin to enable Badge Reader integration, the documentation has mentioned a specific badge reader hardware (HID) Omnikey 5427ck USB Badge Reader and that a file has to be installed in Linux or OSX machine to integrate the hardware.

Can you please help me with the below questions:

1. Does ServiceNow only support the above mentioned model of badge reader or can it be of any manufacturer.

2. Does the badge reader have to be connected to a Linux/OSX machine at the walk up location every time, or can it be connected to a tablet (like an iPad/android Tab) and be used.

There are very limited articles on Badge Reader integration. Any leads are appreciated.

Thanks

and one more thing around Card reader-> so this basically works in this way right-> someone who needs help will scan their badge via the reader[which i believe will be at designated Walk-up Location] and then they can join the queue. This will not work if Queue is disabled if m not wrong.

you are right

It's only specified MacOS or Linux for the badge Reader software

Hi All,

We already have Walk-up implemented on Washington and are about to start implementing Badge Reader with Walk-up.

I have some questions -

1. For a location, we need 1 Badge reader, which will be eventually linked to production. But how do we link it with Dev/ test instance before we link it to the production. We need to verify that the client is working as expected on lower environments. How do we use the same Badge reader on lower env first and then for production.

2. Based on the document from Tokyo  https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/tokyo-it-service-management/page/product/walk-up-experience/task/...

My understanding is we will need to download the client which is possible from the SN instance at Badge Reader Integration > Downloads to select your operating system.

However, we are currently on Washington and there is no relevant page to download client for Washington. I need help to understand if the process has changed for Washington.

Thanks,
