Can we show validation error message before opening up a modal?

I have a requirement to display a create button on a form. Depending on the sysId of the current record, we need to perform validations. If any validations fail, we should display the corresponding error messages. If there are no validation issues, a modal should open to capture some dates and a description as input. Is it feasible to implement this using UXF client action?
