Change Default Filter in Dashboard I didn't create - Widget

Sorry if this is the wrong Forum but it's my first time posting. I have a dashboard that was shared with me for our EMEA region. I'm trying to change the dashboard, specifically the widgets to show the data for the Americas region instead of the EMEA
I can go into the filter and change it to Americas, I get the information I need but when I go back to the dashboard and the widget, the widgets show the EMEA regions. The America's filter that I setup wont stick. Everything I've found says to make the "America's filter" the default filter but I can't find anyway to do that. I didn't build this but SNOW team made me a duplicate and made me the owner, I don't know if me not creating the dashboard has something to do with it.
