Choice list not always showing correct display value

Hello,

I have no idea why this is happening and wanted to see if someone else has experienced this and/or any solutions out there.

Currently I have a choice list that has 'Label' as the display value. When I use the dropdown to select the choice, the correct 'Label' display value is showing in the list. I select the choice, looks great - shows the 'Label' value in the field. Once I update the record, it changes to the 'Value' as the display value. 

After much testing, I have noticed about 20% of the choices work properly, meaning the display value is 'Label' after update of record. The other 80%, show 'Value' as the display value upon update of record.

I have already checked and verified the choice list settings, and the display value only has 'Label' marked as true, the rest of the fields are marked as false (including 'Value').

No clue why this is happening.

Very Interesting find. I went through several other threads and noticed many others have seen this issue before, but never found an answer that worked. I found the resolution for my instance and perhaps this may help others that run into this problem.

Anyways, when a choice list item exceeded the defaulted 40-character limit, it would change my display value from 'Label' to 'Value'. This is why some choice list items worked (under the 40-char limit) and the others did not.

The solution was to extend the character limit, and this solved my issue. Hopefully this can help others out if they see this issue.
