Hello Community,

I am new to the learning community. I have a few questions related to the commnity.

I checked there is some out-of-the-box communities role. (community admin, forum admin, forum moderator, forum user, gamification admin).

I created some groups and assign that role.

Now my Requirement is.

1. As a community admin I can create a forum. From the backend, I was able to create a forum. my question is from the portal side can we create a forum or only we can create a forum backend side?

2. As a community admin can I add forum admin and moderator admin to that particular form that I created.

3. As a forum admin/moderator admin I can create topics to that particular form,

4. with in topic, as a forum admin/moderator I can create questions, answers, submit comments.

5. As a user as  I can create questions, answers, submit comments.

how can I do these from the portal side?

it's a bit urgent requirement for me.

Thanks & Regards,

Harsha .

Hi @Harsha

First I want to recommend my article Setup of Community Roles and Groups

And now let me answer your questions:

  1. Yes, you only can create new forums in the "Backend". The Community Portal is intended for the users and not administrators.
  2. Yes, but the administration of Community users and their memberships is quite different.
  3. Yes, but only as a forum administrator
  4. Yes, but basically the Community users will do that.
  5. Yes, but you have to enable the self registration

In my Knowledge Sources To Go you will find a dedicated chapter for Communities with further links to helpful resources.

Kind regards
Maik

Hi Maik,

Thank you for your explanation. I started learning about this. If is there any query I will post here related to community.

Thanks & Regards,

Harsha .

Hi Maik,

I have a few Question,

As a community admin I can able to control who our Forum Admins and Moderators are for each forum.

1. In order for me to control that do they need to already be added to their respective Forum Admin and Moderator groups? (Presumably they do).

2. If this is the case then can the Communities Admin currently based on the existing set-up be the ones to add them to these groups? If so then how do they do that?

3. I’m concerned at the moment that only a sys-admin can add people in groups to begin with and then the community admin can add them to the respective forum?

Thanks & Regards,

Harsha .
