Configure the height of the portal container

Hi,

I have custom portal where I have added a container and added a background image to it here I have couple of issues.

1. When I add the OOB homepage search widget only the container is and some portion of the background image is visible if not the container is not visible. I don't to add any search widget how to control it?

2. I can't adjust the height of the container full image is not visible how to change the height of the container?
