Create templates for related task records

I am trying to create incident tasks via incident templates which seems to be possible via this document

However it is not working for me, similar behavior was reported via this

Can anyone please suggest if this has worked for someone in the past? am i missing anything?

i populated Incident as link element value in child incident task template. I have not created module yet.

and also are you applying this template with admin user?

yes i am applying it via admin user but module wasnt created so far.

it did not work, attaching screenshot of the link type section.  

Note : This is an MSP environment, both templates are non global and have access to a specific company. When I create a incident task manually from incident using incident template, it works. I am only creating one incident task via this template.
