Hi Team,
I am trying to align CMDB with CSDM framework , I have created business capability, business service, business offerings , application service and linked CI's manually.
OOTB incident is displaying only service , offering but I have added a custom field business service and based on business service selection to display services.
I am good with incident management for now , but if I have to extend csdm to Service request management , how do I link catalog items to services or service offerings.
Also there is road map for SPM and HAM , how do I implement CSDM so that it can be used by SPM and HAM when they are implemented

Hi ,
To align your implementation with ServiceNow’s recommended framework and prepare for Service Request Management (SRM), SPM, and HAM, here are the key resources:
- CSDM 5 White Paper – The definitive guide to the Common Service Data Model, including the seven domains and how services, offerings, and CIs should be modeled
- CMDB & CSDM Data Foundations Success Pack – A curated set of best practices, dashboards, and guidance to build an AI‑ready, healthy CMDB aligned with CSDM
- Data Foundations (CMDB and CSDM) Implementer Training – Official accreditation that covers CMDB architecture, CSDM domains, relationships, and data governance
With the resources above you will create a CMDB, that is well prepared for HAM and SPM as well.
Hope this helps!

Hi @rambo1
You can look into following resources:
1) Align CMDB with CSDM framework:
How to configure incident management to align with CSDM; a leading practice guide
Guideline how to build CSDM Relationship
What are the steps to link a Business Service to its application-level Service Map in ServiceNow
2) OOTB incident is displaying only service , offering but I have added a custom field business service and based on business service selection to display services.
What is requirement behind this custom Business service field addition where as OOTB - already sc_req_item is having Service ( reference to cmdb_ci_service) & Service Offering is reference field and it expects a selected Business Service .
KB1116973 Manage Changes that does not relate a Business, Technical, or Application Service and a CI
KB0831512 Business Services Using OOB CMDB Tables
3)Extend csdm to Service request management , how do I link catalog items to services or service offerings.
CSDM & Request Catalog - service offering and catalog item association
Service offering to catalog item relationships
4)Road map for SPM and HAM , with CSDM
What is CSDM's relationship with APM, DPM and SPM and how they can work together?

Hi @rambo1
first some a question? Why have you created a custom field for business service when service is available OTTB? In relation to linking the catalog item, you should like it to an offering and not the service itself. There is also here an OTTB relationship already… further more, when you’re also looking at SPM, it could be a good idea to look at DPM, service builder to ensure the right overview.
If my answer has helped with your question, please mark my answer as the accepted solution and give a thumbs up.
Best regards
