I am currently studying the concept of domain separation and have a really amateur question. Is the TOP domain the same as the global domain? Like for example, the domain of a business rule is set to [global]. If I decide to change it to [TOP] would there be any effect in terms of application, access, and visibility to other domains? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Drin,
no its not the same. Every domain - either TOP, child, etc. - have access to global, but a child domain doesnt have access to TOP for example.
If you change the business rule to be set to TOP that means ( children dont have access to parent but only for data ) that all children, if explicitly dont have business rule set for their domain, will go up to TOP. This is handled by sys_override field and if you have enabled delegated administration. I suggest not to change business rules which are in global, instead enter the domain you need and then just edit this BR - this will create BR with same name but for this domain.
Cheers,
Joro

Global is like Earth - Where you created some countries e.g. USA, CANADA, CHINA etc. You appointed USA as a TOP Domain (where all your UNO, UNISCO and other processes reside). Rest of the countries need to follow the Processes defined by USA or they can customize based on their unique need.
Hope this example will give you understanding.
