Duplicate Numbers on Contracts

Hello Guys,

We are seeing duplicate record numbers on our contracts table. I have run the script to identify how many duplicate record numbers are there and I see more than 100 records.

How can we address this issue?

Thanks,

Rocky.

Hi, normally this is the result of someone changing the number maintenace record or importing data from another source\instance without allowing for potential duplication of the numbers.
I would first find the easiest solution to update existing records, IE update the record with the newest creation date to a new number - you would need a suitable free 'higher' number block..
Once you have a solution and know the highest number that will be created, you need to update number maintenance to ensure your record numbering starts after the highest number that you will have when your clean-up is done.

eg duplicates in range 1000-1150, no existing records in range 1200-1350, I would set number maint as 1400 and update my duplicates to replace the second digit by adding 200 to each number.

Hi @Rocky5 ,

There would be some filtering criteria through which you are identifying the duplicate records.

There are few ways to stop records being duplicated one of the way is stopping the record creation during the insert itself if certain criteria(Set of conditions through which you've identified duplicate records).

For already created duplicate records you can either delete them/modify those records with the new entry of data if you wish to.
