Email notification is not triggering(how to troubleshoot)

we have an email notification to trigger when any approver puts his comment to a request while approving the request, it was working before but now it is not working, we have checked the notification there are no changes done to the configuration how to find out what happened to the notification.

How did you verify that the notification is not working?
Did the user not receive any email? Have you checked the email logs?
