Employee Center Attachments - Maximum size & number

Hello!

I had a quick question regarding max attachment size & count when submitting an HR case on the Employee Center portal.

In my research it appears that the default (and recommended) max attachment size is 1024 MB/1 GB.  Is this correct?

Then the next question is regarding the max # of attachments.  Is there a limit or are the limitations solely based on file size?

Ex -   4 attachments x 256 MB =  1024 MB     or    8 attachments X 128 MB = 1024 MB are both okay because the max size is 1024 MB?

Thank you in advance!

Justin

The default maximum size limit for an attachment file that can be added to a record on the Now platform is 1024 MB for a new out-of-box instance. However, this limit can be adjusted in the system to allow for larger maximum attachment sizes or decrease the maximum size of an attachment allowed on the system.

The following procedure can be used to change the maximum allowable size for an attachment uploaded to the system:

  1. Log in to the instance with an admin account
  2. Using the Navigator, browse to System Properties > Security.

The Security Properties page for the instance will appear.  Locate the property on the page with the heading "Maximum file attachment size in megabytes". In this field, you can change the maximum allowed attachment size (in MB).

Hi @dhaz  - Thank you for the quick response!  Do you know if there is a limit to the # of attachments?

I do not believe there is a limit of the # of attachments on a record, as long as you dont go over the attachment size. I have had times where I have had 60 attachments on a data source record before. I could be wrong, but I dont think there is a limit.

Hi, if the limit is 1gb it is per attachment or sum of all attachments sizes? For example I have a 1GB limit so can I upload 1gb 4 attachment at total it is 4GB or I can attach as many as I want but the total size of the attachments can be 1GB like 100 mb 10 files.
