Hello Community,
I am facing an issue with Flow Designer. When I run the flow, it does not execute due to a Business Rule. If I deactivate the Business Rule, the flow works as expected.
However, I need to run the flow without deactivating or deleting the Business Rule. Could someone please guide me on how to resolve this issue?
Thanks in advance for your help.

First thing I would do is open the Flow execution details (Flow Designer > Executions) and check the exact error message on the action that fails. Also check System Logs, because most of the time the Business Rule is either aborting the action or throwing an error, and the log tells you which one.
Some things that usually cause this:
- The BR is aborting the update. If the rule has current.setAbortAction(true) in it, any update from the flow that matches the condition will be blocked. Look at the BR condition and script and see why the flow’s update is triggering it.
- The flow runs as a different user. Flows can run as System User or as the user who triggered it, so a BR that checks roles or gs.getUserID() can behave different for the flow. Check the “Run As” setting on the flow and try a user that have the right roles.
- The BR does not expect the data the flow is sending. For example a mandatory field is empty or a value is not in the format the BR is checking. Try to match what a normal user would enter on the form.
- Order of the rules. If more than one BR runs on the same table, change the Order value or the When (before/after/async) so it doesn’t conflict with the flow.
If you really cant touch the BR logic, the cleanest way is to add a condition to the BR so it skips when the update comes from the flow, like checking a flag field or something similar. Another option is using setWorkflow(false) in a script step in the flow, but be carefull, because that will skip all the other business rules on that record too, not just this one.
If you can share the BR script and the error from the execution log, it will be easier for us to point out the exact issue.
Hope this helps!

Hi @Madhulatha
Not really as we have no insight into what you’re trying to achieve, what you have configured in flow designer and which business rule that is making the flow fail and why.
if you give this context to your question it will be much easier to help you.
If my answer has helped with your question, please mark my answer as the accepted solution and give a thumbs up.
Best regards
