Generate Excel file not csv from any record

I have tried numerous methods to generate Excel file for any record with data to be placed in specific cells (in short i need a template to be filled autmatically upon submission). I havent found any method, rather I succeeded in generating pdf in form of template. Also I got methods to generate csv's but non worked for Excel. Is there any way, that I upload an excel file smewhere in servicenow like a Kb article and then get it filled with some script.

I think OOTB, you can upload excel and CSV.
