Hi Jeff,
You may want to investigate the "Scripting in ServiceNow" training class offered by ServiceNow.
Information available as of this posting at:
http://www.servicenow.com/knowledge.do?sysparm_document_key=kb_knowledge,48ebf431ff620000ebc5faa6497efe32
A course handbook will be provided containing comprehensive scripting specific for ServiceNow.
Regards,
John

JavaScript: The Good Parts by Douglas Crockford
JavaScript Patterns by Stoyan Stefanov
High Performance JavaScript by Nick Zakas
Start with Crockford's book, then Zakas' book.

I used http://www.codecademy.com/ to learn javascript and then the wiki to learn the basics of scripting in ServiceNow. I was able to jump into the advanced scripting class provided by ServiceNow at Knowledge 13 after following that path without getting lost.
