Subject: Help with Creating a Dashboard with SP Widgets in ServiceNow

Hello all,

Instance Info:

I am trying to create a dashboard that includes multiple Service Portal (SP) widgets. However, I am facing the following issues:

Issues:

  1. I watched multiple tutorial videos on dashboard creation with widgets, but my UI does not have the same "Add Widget" option as shown in those videos.
  2. I also referred to the official documentation, but the dashboard creation UI appears different, making it confusing. (Screenshots attached for reference.)

Requirements:

  • I want to create a dashboard with multiple data visualizations.
  • The data should be fetched on-demand by calling an API, with no need to store data in tables.
  • Based on my research, creating SP widgets and adding them to the dashboard seems like a maintainable solution. I am open to better suggestions.

Current Progress:

  • I have created an SP widget and a corresponding SP page to display the UI.
  • When I open the SP page directly, it works fine.
  • However, when I try to embed the SP page into a dashboard via IFrame, it only shows a blank white screen.
  • I tried multiple fixes, but nothing worked.

Questions:

  1. Is embedding an SP page into a dashboard via IFrame possible?
  2. Am I following the correct approach, or is there a better way to achieve this?

I would appreciate any guidance on this.

Thanks in advance.
