I'm currently trying to understand the logic behind creating and updating Time Cards from Time Worked entries.
I created a Project Task and added a few Time Worked entries for several days of the same week.
What happened: Yes, a Time Card got created.
But:
- The Time Worked entries did not get linked to the new Time Card (field remained empty; Related List on the Time Card as well)
- It did some summary of all the times, but into the same day (which is the current weekday). Even when I updated the Time Worked entries, it updated the same day again and again.
I also searched through all the possible Script Includes and Business Rules, and now it seems to me like it doesn't really care for the work_date field but the created date of the individual time worked entry. That would be absolutely useless and illogical, for me at least.
Can someone please help me to understand the logic? For me it's also about importing time worked entries from external tools. I could simply not use it like this if it would only care for the created date. What really counts is the work_date field, indeed.
I would also like to understand how it can happen that the time card is updated properly, but there is no real relation between the card and the related entries now.
Best regards

Any more ideas? I would appreciate some insights from a human being as well.
Btw, there is definitely a time_card field on task_time_worked, so I can't confirm that there is no relation at all. It just seems to be the case that the system isn't properly using it. Is it a bug or a feature?
Especially if the work_date field does not have any influence on the Time Card, this is utter nonsense to me. If I track time for Wednesday, I want these hours to be aggregated on Wednesday, and not the day when I created the record (which can always be later, e.g. at the end of the week).

Hi Stefan,
I would like to ask your advice I was trying to utilize time_worked attribute on project task but it appears I cannot understand how to record time for this record and generate a time card. The property is activated, attribute is added to the record, task is assigned. However, after this I am lost the time_worked attribute is running as a timer and doesn't stop when I close the task. What do you need to do to record the time worked again this task and report the time?
Thanks,
Viktoriia
