how do we stop a data import

We have a tuesday only load which we need to stop with the intention of starting it again next week.

We have disabled the scheduled import and deleted the entry from the schedule (sys_trigger) table.

We dont want to modify the data source with incorrect credentials/server paths as we want to reuse this next week.

I just want to confirm if that is the only thing that we need to do.

you did correct steps to disable firing of scheduled jobs.
