How to add Date Picker to Date field on Form

For the life of me I can't figure out how to add a Date Picker to a date field on a form. I can see a date picker in the list view just not on the form (image attached). I have been searching for about 8 hours and trying various things but nothing is working. Please tell me what I am missing. This seems like it should be a common feature for a UI, not an add-on.

It is just a regular Date field. So weird because I can't find others having this problem on the form.

I found the same problem. There is no option to jump to a specific year and select that date
