How to Add Group Manager Approval in Standard Change Workflow When Using Pre-Approved Templates?

  • When a Standard Change is created from a pre-approved template, and it's in the 'New' stage, I want to display a custom button labelled 'Request Approval'.

  • When the Requester or Change Initiator clicks this button:

    • The Change Request should move to the 'Authorize' stage.

    • It should trigger an approval request to the Manager of the Assignment Group (i.e., the Implementer Group).

  • If the Manager approves the request, the Change moves to the 'Scheduled' stage.

If rejected, the Change should return to the 'New' stage.

Doesn't this fly in the face of what Standard Changes are used for?
If it requires approval, shouldn't it just be a Normal Change?

Hi @TejaswiniM

Standard changes are those that do not require approval and are considered low-risk. According to ITIL, standard changes don't need approval either. By adding approval, you risk disrupting both the system and the process. It’s better to use the normal change or change model for your purpose.
