How to disable email notifications completely from instance ?

I need to stop all email notifications form the instance, how can we do that

Okay, I am asking to verify I am understanding this correctly. (If I am wrong, I'll end up sending 100s of email notifications to ordinary users for test and development activity, which will have a very bad affect on user's opinions of the platform).
Does merely populating this field force all Service Now generated SMTP messages to be sent only to the email address listed in this configuration property "glide.email.test.user"?
I am testing this as well, but would like to hear from some others who've had more experience.

Chuck I'm curious of your opinion on this, I need to do an update on our production instance that deletes a table and re-adds it this would cause a ton of emails to go out to end users and I want to prevent that. Do you think that this would be suitable to temporarily disable outbound emails from servicenow?
