How to hide comments from Activity log

Hi All,

I have a requirement where I need to hide a comments field which is of 'Journal Input' type. I have created custom comments fields that will be used by users to add comments to the request form.

So can we hide this comments field highlighted in the screenshot?

Thanks in advance,

Amol.

Hi All,

Thank you all for your efforts.

I have a solution to this question: I have created a flow that will remove the comment added in the custom field and copy that comment to the comments field which is of Journal input type.

And to hide the Comments field from Activity log, I have made it read only. Even I need to make all journal fields ready only like additional comments and work notes.

Thanks,

Amol

@nowgpt1 This is not going to work, since the screenshot is showing the Portal Widget, and you are talking about the backend.

Hi @Amol Pawar,

First... Why would you replace the OOTB comments field, by a custom one?

If you really need to do this... The only way besides customizing the widget itself, is to change your ACL's, so that the OOTB comments field is not readable anymore.

Hi @Peter Bodelier,

I placed the Comments field at the top earlier but when I added the Activity log, it was not visible at the top. Instead, it was visible in the activity log itself. That's why I needed to create a new custom comments field. Somehow comments field got merged in the 'Activity Log'.

And I have created one read ACL but still the comments field from activity log is visible.

Any thoughts on this?

Amol.

Creating a new ACL, doesn't help.
You will need to go over all ACL's for this field, to make sure none of them allow (or at least not for your use case). If one ACL's gives access it will be visible.
