How to sort reference field values

Hello Community,

I'm looking for a way to sort the values of a reference field. Simple enough but there is not an option on the reference qualifier and I have already tried the global user preference. I am viewing this reference field on the Service Portal and it does not honor that global sort user preference. Anyone found a solution to this yet?

In attributes for the field: ref_sequence=field_name;

just add to the attribute field of the catalog variable this line: ref_ac_order_by=FIELD .
