How to use Icon Menu List in Portal header

I would like to have "links" in a menu on top of my header graphic (see attachment).   I pulled in the Icon Menu List widget, but am not sure how to add links or if I am using the correct tool.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Hi Donna

Could you please show me where you want to have the new links ?

Do you want to add links on the same line where 'knowledge service portal etc' are shown or something different ?

Cheers

Thank you for your prompt response. I would like to add 3 — 4 icon links on the right side of the header, in front of the graphic. Is this possible, or is there a better way?

Hi Donna

I was having a look to the widget and its code.

First of all the system will create just one list for each instance a 'menu item'   used.

In order to obtain something like this with multiple links

You need simply to open the page where the instance of the widget is placed and click on it.

In my example

angular_playground___ServiceNow.png

This will give you access to menu list referenced where you will be able to add/remove links to portal pages, URL or other interesting things.

In case you need more than one list you need to physically create a new instance of the widget and place on the side of the other

Your page should have a structure similar to the one shown in the next image

IMPORTANT

Pretty sure you nkow this but..

After creating a new instance of the 'Icon Menu List' widget, the system must show 'Instance with Menu'

This can be obtained easily using the designer

Page_Designer.png

On the other had if you create manually the instance without using the designer the system will assign the generic class named 'Instance'.

This will give you just the header without the possibility to provide your links.

Not sure if this helps/answers your question but if it does please mark it

That makes perfect sense, but what would cause the icon menu list to create an "instance" when I drag it into a container instead of "instance with menu"?
