How to Watch field in Next Experience

Problem/Background:

I've become more and more used to Next Experience/Polaris, but I still can't get over the fact that the Watch field functionality is gone here - extremely frustrating. I really need this to be solved or an easy way to use the function anyway...

Solution:

The solution to this is to setup UI16 for an admin user and Impersonate that user, to watch a field.
That way you can still use Next Experience (working name Polaris) and switch back and forth to watch a field.

But to summarize your post in short:

1. sys_user_preference.LIST
2. Find and open "glide.ui.polaris.use"
3. Insert and Stay
4. Uncheck "System" and select desired "User"
5. Set Value to "false"
